Blackmer Sliding Vane Pumps work by using a number of vanes within a rotor. These vanes are free to slide into and out of slots inside the rotor. As the pump driver turns the rotor, a combination of centrifugal force, push rods and/or pressurised fluid, causes the vanes to move out of their slots and then bear against the inner bore of the pump. This then forms pumping chambers. The rotor then revolves and passes fluid into the spaces between the vanes. It’s then passed around the casing until it reaches the discharge port. That is when the fluid is forced through the discharge piping.
